We are looking for experienced veterinarians to join our amazing 13 doctor team. Ohana Pet Hospital is a privately owned, AAHA accredited, progressive companion animal general practice located in Ventura – a beautiful beach town located in sunny Southern California.  Affordable beach town with nice clientele and laid-back vibe.  Ventura is located an hour north of Los Angeles and just south of beautiful Santa Barbara and the Central Coast.  It has a lively art and food scene with many amazing restaurants and craft breweries and wineries. In addition, it is also an amazing place for outdoor enthusiasts with a variety of both land and sea adventures (surfing, kayaking, sailing, whale watching, diving, hiking, climbing, and cycling. We have a wonderful team of friendly, compassionate doctors and staff.  Our mission is “To provide Compassionate Care for our Ohana – our Family” – which includes our patients, clients, teammates, animal rescue partners, vendors, community and environment.  This is reflected in our culture of a family feel with both staff and clients.

Our Hospital Services:

  • General medicine and surgery for dogs and cats
  • Urgent care (same day appointments and emergencies)
  • Ultrasonography
  • Dentistry (with digital dental x-ray)
  • Limited exotics medicine (reptiles, rabbits, pocket pets)
  • Rehabilitation medicine, acupuncture and holistic medicine.

Doctor Duties:

  • Full-time doctors work 3-4 shifts per week
  • Part-time doctors work 2 or less shifts per week
  • General Practitioners are expected to provide medical and surgical care for dogs and cats but ultrasound and exotics are a plus.
  • Urgent Care Practitioners receive mainly same-day appointments (dogs and cats) along with emergency cases and ability to competently perform surgery on non-complicated emergency cases such as gastrointestinal foreign bodies, urethral obstruction, abscess and laceration repairs.

Ideal Candidates: 

  • Have 2-5 years of general practice and/or emergency receiving experience but we are willing to mentor and train new graduates.
  • In addition to high-quality medicine and surgical skills, we are looking for doctors with excellent client communication and customer service skills as well as a dedication to teaching staff.
  • Have a passion for animals and helping people.
  • We highly value compassion, empathy….. and humor!

We require a valid California veterinary license and ability to obtain a DEA license.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a full-time, 3-4-day work week schedules but do require availability to work on Saturdays (not all Saturdays). The hospital is closed on Sundays. Compensation is base plus production based on experience.  We also offer:
