Educating People
Ohana Pet Hospital is committed to educating people – from veterinary interns to pet owners.
We believe education is a powerful tool. A tool that helps pet owners to be better “parents” and those in the veterinary field to be better stewards of the pet health and wellness industry. To that end, this page is your educational resource. Please check back often!
Educational Resources for Pet Owners
- American Animal Hospital Association – In August 2014, Ohana Pet Hospital was awarded a prestigious AAHA accreditation. The AAHA website is full of useful information for pet owners.
- Veterinary Information Network – This online pet health library is available to pet owners to help you best care for your pets. Articles on topics that cover health, behavior, medications and more, are provided by veterinarians and experts in their fields in this online database that is the first and largest of its kind.
- Missing or Found Dog or Cat? – Be sure to visit LostDogVentura.com or LostCatVentura.com.
Educational and Networking Opportunities for the Pet Healthcare Industry
- Vet Assisting at Charter College In late 2014, our own Drs. Jan and Jill, along with Dr. KaLee Pasek, worked closely with Charter College in Oxnard to launch a new Veterinary Assistant certification program in an effort to provide more skilled workers to the growing veterinary field in Ventura county.
- Vet Tech Program at Ventura College In 2020, Drs. Jan and Jill, along with Ventura College launched a new Veterinary Technology Program to bring degree options in the veterinary field to Ventura County.
- “Leave No Animal Without a Home” – Ohana Pet Hospital, along with other local veterinary clinics, rescue organizations, pet-related businesses and the City of Ventura Animal Services, are meeting regularly in an educational symposium format with the common goal of ensuring that a “forever home” is found for every last shelter animal. A big thank you to SBVVMA for their sponsorship and VMSG for the meeting space. As news develops we will share it on our website.
- Santa Barbara Ventura Veterinary Medical Association (SBVVMA) – This professional association of veterinarians is dedicated to animal health advancement while also supporting local initiatives, such as the symposium mentioned above. SBVVMA also provides local continuing education opportunities for veterinary professionals.
